For gays, all bets are off — that behaviour is not well tolerated in places like Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia or really any of the former Soviet republics (and it’s even less tolerated in majority Muslim regions like the North Caucasus). Some countries in the western part of East Europe might be more tolerant of it, like Poland or Czechia…not entirely sure though. Traveling to eastern Ukraine and adjacent areas in Russia is a bad idea, it’s technically a war zone. Neither is travel to the North Caucasus region of southern Russia recommended (although it’s a little better now than it was 10 yrs ago). These are probably the most dangerous areas of Europe. I’m not saying that you will definitely be killed or attacked if you go, you probably won’t be (it’s not Afghanistan or Somalia-level bad), but there’s some risk involved. If you stick out from the locals, you’re a target.
